Event Decor in 2024

Want to set an oh-so-now vibe at your next event? Chair-Man Mills’ trend outlook for 2024 centres around soothing spaces, networking-focused room set-ups and invigorating shots of colour—all with the goal of creating events with harmony and purpose:

Cozy and natural: A growing trend is to incorporate natural, organic and sustainable elements into the overall design. The Chair-man Mills team sees event planners and designers using eco-conscious materials and decorations such as lush greenery, reclaimed wood, and earthy textures, all complemented by a warm and inviting colour palette. The goal is to impress guests while connecting them to the environment. This trend is not only visually appealing but also environmentally responsible. Imagine refurbished barns adorned with hanging gardens or modern ballrooms transformed into urban jungles with biophilic designs.

On-site retreat spaces: Events have evolved to offer more than just constant stimulation. Nowadays, they include thoughtful areas dedicated to re-energizing, relaxation and stillness. “Recharge zones" offer a sanctuary for attendees who might need a brief respite from the excitement or intensity of an event. With comfortable seating, soft lighting, and soothing decor, they are an oasis where guests can unwind, digest experiences and refocus. They acknowledge the importance of mental and physical well-being during an event, enhancing the overall experience and ensuring that attendees feel refreshed and not overwhelmed.

Conversation and interaction spaces. Crafting connections is now a cornerstone of gatherings, meaning that creating spaces where people can comfortably mingle, chat, and bond is key. Examples include: Interactive lounge areas with plush sofas and oversized cushions, and interactive food stations that encourage a communal experience around the love of food and beverage—such as a sushi bar where guests can customize their rolls or a mixology station where they can craft cocktails.

Colour Conscious The team at Chair-man Mills is working with designers who are now experimenting with new ways to use colour. They start with neutral and understated palettes as a foundation but add pops of bright and bold hues in strategic locations to create a striking visual contrast that captures the eye and sets a unique tone for the event. For instance, a black-and-white gala can be infused with vivid splashes of emerald green. Colourful accents serve as focal points, evoking emotions and creating a lasting impression on attendees. This design choice elevates the ambiance and reinforces the event's unique identity, making it a feast for the senses.
